Airfix
Because of the superbly detailed and highly realistic design Airfix is second only to Marx in popularity with plastic collectors. Early figures were sculpted by John Niblett with the later designs said to be done by Ron Cameron who also did the Britains Deetail line. Some figures have also been attributed to Charles Stadden and his design team. Airfix figures continue to be reissued by a number of different manufactures as well as by Airfix itself which is still in business. The 1:72 scale line has been popular for decades and has been reproduced by other manufacturers. Now these figures have been reissued by Airfix themselves with the same outstanding quality for which they were originally known. Airfix also produces a 1:76 and 1:72 scale line of plastic model kits. Typically these are simple to build (perfect for the novice modeler), they still have enough detail for the seasoned kit builder.
PLEASE NOTE: 1/72 scale Airfix tank, aircraft & vehicle kits are listed under 1/72 scale in our Models section while Airfix figure kits are listed under 1/72 scale in our Toy Soldier section.
