Supplied with one chain 16 inches long with two hook ends
"Tow Chains" come finished in a rusty color and can be used as is, however, you can paint your chains using any hobby paint. A nice worn effect can be achieved by gently scraping off certain areas of the chain and/or hook ends so that the bare metal shows through. This simulates wear. Don't over do the bare metal effect as most tow chains were rusty, dirty, oily and anything but shiny.
Sometimes crews would paint the tow hooks red to make it easier to quickly locate the ends. You may wish to paint the miniature tow hooks a medium red to represent this practice.
They can be shortened by carefully opening the jump rings, clipping the chain to the desired  length, and reattaching the hook and jump ring through the end link.
