This is a Precise 1/35th scale model of a C-Ration Box.
After World War II C-rations underwent several changes based upon their use in combat on a global scale. The number of individual rations was reduced from 10 to 6 per case. The cases were smaller 1.1 cubic feet compared to 1.4 and they became lighter, reduced from 45 to only 38 pounds. The rations offered more nutrition and variety. The menu numbers changed to C-4 thru C-7 designations. Although now lighter and more compact, the case, box, and strapping pattern remained the same as the late (1944) World War II boxes.
Long and careful research went into the production of this box set to duplicate the correct dimensions, markings, and configuration of the original prototypes. We felt this highly visible part of many military vehicle models and dioramas deserved to be portrayed in correct scale to the figures, vehicles, and scenery produced by the precision modeler.
