About the Hohenstaufen Division:
The Hohenstaufen Division took its name from a historically noble German family line that stemmed from King Frederich II (1194 – 1250). The 9th SS Panzer-Division “Hohenstaufen” was formed in December 1942, and was stationed in France when the Allied invasion was unleashed on the Normandy area in mid-1944.
