8-Inch Parrott Rifle on a Seacoast Barbette Carriage
Kit includes the 8 inch Parrott tube, the seacoast barbette carriage, 3 Parrott shells, 3 Parrott bolts, there are over 40 parts included.

One of the most famous guns of the war was an 8-Inch Parrott Rifle which was nicknamed the "Swamp Angel". The Swamp Angel made history when on August 22, 1863 when it fired Parrott shells into the city of Charleston. Using a compass siting of St. Michaels Episcopal church in downtown Charleston, the 8-inch Parrott became the first gun to use the technique of indirect fire. The battery which protected the Swamp Angel was one of the top engineering feats of the war. It was built on a marsh upon logs laid crossways, thereby literally floating on "pluff mud" employing counterbalance. The carriage used in this model kit is the exact copy of the actual carriage used by the Swamp Angel. Like the Rodman gun, we used stereolithography to construct it and the instructions contain the 4 pages of blueprints of the carriage as found in the national archives! You will never find a model kit more historically accurate than these. It was guns like these that were used to pound Battery Wagner, Ft. Sumter and the city of Charleston. Charleston never surrendered.
